Full Service Moving Tip: The Clearing

February 3rd, 2010 Michael Porcaro

Full service moving tip for the week: The Clearing

Here are a few tips to make your relocation as smooth as possible.

1. Clear Pathways.  Make sure boxes or miscellaneous items are not blocking exit pathways.  The movers will be happy to move anything and everything you have, but to help expedite the process and save you some money try and have these things done before the movers get there.  Hallways should be cleared, and items you may not be taking should be removed prior or placed in an area that does not interfere.

2. Clear the tops of furniture.  Make sure you clear table tops and dressers of any and all loose articles such as knick knacks and other items that should be packed into boxes.

3. Clear the walls.  Pictures, sconces, and shelves make your house a home.  They do not save you time on your move though.  Have these items taken down and boxed, or simply organized to be blanket wrapped.  You can stack all your pictures in one area.  Group them together in like sizes.  This makes it easy for our movers to quickly blanket wrap them and load them onto the truck.

This concludes our lesson for the week.  Check back weekly for more money saving tips!
